Time. What’s your relationship with time? Most of us have a love/hate relationship with our clock. It lives on our phone, on our wall and on our wrist. Our watch watches us. Time waits for no man. Times flies when you are having fun. One hour can pass so quickly you are amazed at the speed with which it evaporated and disappeared. That same 60 minutes can move so slow it seems like a lifetime has passed and it will never end. And yet, we know that time is constant. It does not change, only our relationship with it does. Father time is undefeated. No one has ever been able to outrun it. In the end, everyone runs out of time. All good things must come to an end. What’s your relationship with time? It would seem that there’s never enough. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” God has set eternity in the human heart. We live in time but we are not destined to stay here. God is outside of time. God is eternal and the Bible declares that we will one day be set free from the constraints and limitations of time. Genesis 1:5 tells the story of when time began, “God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.” If you read all the way through to the end of the book of Revelation you will discover chapter 21, verses 23-25: “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.” God created time. He is Lord over time. He is not bound by it. This truth is impossible for us to comprehend. In our world time is everything and everywhere. Life beyond time? That’s amazing.
The Bible declares that God came to set the captives free and whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Mark 1:14-15 says, “Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” The One who created and controls all things has declared that in His Kingdom there is an abundance of time. There is enough. Time is not too big for God. When you align your life with His will there is always enough time. Nothing is ever too late. Things happen when they should. Jesus came right on time. The Kingdom of God was declared right on time. He will return again at just the right time. You can join Him today and be confident that there is enough time. You will only breathe your last breath when He declares you have finished your time.
Is it possible that you could learn to change your relationship with time before you run out of time? Jesus was never in a hurry. He was never late. Why? Because He is the Lord of time. What’s your relationship with time? Could your life benefit from getting to know the God of time better? There is enough time for everything He has appointed you for. Worry, fear and anxiety over time are not God’s will for your life. He has freedom for you but it requires you to hand control and trust over to Him. Next time you are concerned about time ask God to show you His perspective. Are you trying to do more than you should? Are you doing less than you should? Are you charging out ahead of God’s will? Are you dragging your feet and unwilling to do what He wants you to do? When you learn the secret of aligning with God’s will in your life you will find that there is always enough time. Shalom.
