Sermon Oct 4
Mark 5:21-43
The same God who is more “mega” than science and nature; than demons and evil… cares about the hairs on your head… the lilies in the field. If you are going to “know” Jesus you need to know that He is intimately interested in everything about YOU. It’s easy to get lost in the crowd. There are billions of people and billions of concerns in the world. WHY WOULD GOD CARE ABOUT YOU? SURELY HE HAS MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT THAN MY PROBLEMS… This is a LIE OF SATAN… and one that he loves to use. Mark 5:25-26 says, “And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.”
One woman… unnamed. No credentials. She was a “nobody” with a long, sad, story of suffering and disappointment. 12 years. Every bit of money. Only disappointment. Jesus cares about her. Jesus took time to show us His heart. He’s relational. He loves individuals. Small things matter as much as big things to God. He is able to be INCREDIBLY BIG and INCREDIBLY SMALL. God will heal cancer, stop storms and… find you a parking space. NOTHING IS TOO BIG FOR GOD. NOTHING IS TOO SMALL FOR GOD. THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD IS LOOKING FOR. THIS IS GOOD NEWS. THIS IS WHAT JESUS CAME TO OFFER. THIS IS WHAT THE CHURCH IS DESIGNED TO DO.
Discussion Questions
1. What can you do to share the Kingdom of God with the world around you?
2. Who do you know that might feel “untouchable,” “lonely,” or “forgotten?”
3. Who needs someone to sit with them, listen to them, welcome them, feed them, forgive them, pray with them, or simply remind them that they are not alone?
