No Legs, No Vision, No Problem!
Matthew is a former US Marine who enlisted after watching the September 11 attacks as a high school freshman. On 18 January 2007, while on patrol in Haditha, Iraq, a bomb exploded directly beneath his feet. He was blinded instantly and was not expected to survive. He woke from a three-week coma to learn that his left leg had been amputated above the knee and his right leg below it.
Matthew believes God placed him on a new mission: to live a life of inspiration and encourage everyone he meets. He became the first blind double amputee to re-enlist in the Marine Corps, and today he speaks to churches, schools and teams about faith, resilience and refusing to quit. In his words: "I may not have vision, but that does not mean I do not have a vision."
