Conversation with the Failure

This week (20 April) our sermon was from John 21:15-17

The conversation with Peter concludes the book of John. It comes after the resurrection, and as we noted, when Jesus encounters spiritual failure—

1-Jesus is Refocusing—we easily get preoccupied with other things

2-Jesus is Repairing.—he puts back together what has been torn

3-Jesus is Restoring-this is always his aim. He seeks to return us to our original condition

4-Jesus is Repurposing—he intends we become useable again for his kingdom

  • Are you allowing God to do his necessary, healing work?
  • Can you remember a time God’s grace completely restored you?
  • Why do you think the conversation goes in the direction it does in vv 18ff?
