It’s Holy Week. There’s no more important week of the year for followers of Jesus. Our hope at Trinity is to provide an opportunity for you to come and worship our Savior, both on Good Friday and on Easter Sunday.
The obvious conversation in the Gospel of John for this week is Jesus’s conversation with Peter in John 21. Who amongst us cannot identify with self-assured Peter, whose failure of nerve brought him back to earth. We all have moments when life humbles us. I find it noteworthy that Jesus, after his resurrection, said, “Go tell his disciples and Peter” (Mark 16:7).
Lucado writes, “What a line. It’s as if all of heaven had watched Peter fall, and it’s as if all of heaven wanted to help him back up again.” Jesus triumphed over the grave, and his priority was to find Peter. In the darkest hour of our lives, the Lord sets out to untie the knots and fill in the breaks of our brokenness. This is the theme of this coming Sunday.
Looking ahead, I want to make the best use of my time while here at Trinity. On Thursday nights, from 7:15-9:00 in the library, beginning May 1, I am doing a mini-series of sorts, exploring some “How-to” questions—
May 1-How to Get the Most Out of the Gospel of John (a change from April 28)
May 15-How to Recognize the Future Pastor of Trinity—What the Scriptures Tell Us
May 29-How to Lead a Small Group-The Essentials for Healthy Groups
June 5-How to Effectively Preach-A Step by Step Approach
June 12-How to Get the Most Out of Reading the Bible-Using Wisdom Literature
