Hi everyone-
Nostalgia, as I note in my recent blog, is not what it used to be. To reminisce was once considered a sign of oncoming dementia—or worse. I am back here at Trinity, and stepping into the community, I am sometimes hit by an occasional wave of memories. These go back to the years I pastored this church. Thankfully, it is not a sign I am losing my mind (I hope!).
What I presently see is a lot like what I saw then—a vibrant group of international people learning how to cross cultural divides, embrace, worship together, and share our spiritual journey together. We have something very special in this context, and we must do everything we can to protect it.
This Sunday, we will take an important step forward in finding a new pastor. We will review the nominees for our Pastoral Search Committee with the aim of approving them and setting them apart to do a careful search. Lord willing, the process will not be a long one. Be praying fervently.
This Sunday I continue our series, looking at Jesus and his conversation with his mother (John 2). It is, after all, Mother’s Day. It is a bit mysterious, but it leaves us with some important lessons in our approach to Jesus.
Pray for—
-God to guide us as we seek to confirm candidates for the Pastoral Search Committee
-God to continue to heal and transform us into a healthy community
-God to work through Trinity to reach the culture around us
