Sermon 1 June || John 15:1-8
Jesus’s conversation with the disciples included an object lesson—a vineyard. Jesus is the Vine, and we are the branches. The Father is the Vinedresser who cuts out and prunes back. His main objective is fruit bearing. It must also be ours. Our principal mission is to abide. The church will not flourish unless we remain deeply connected to Jesus.
Discussion Points
- 1-What season are you in—dormant, spring, summer, fall? Is this a time of experiencing pruning, or are you emerging, or is this the season of life you are bearing fruit, or are you entering a quiet season?
- 2-What is the fruit God intends us to bear?
- 3-Can you think of a time God pruned your life back? What were the losses. What did you gain?
