There is a common misconception that has swirled throughout the Church for the past 2000 years that undermines our mission; it is a belief that it is the work of the “other” person to teach, to care and to create the Kingdom of God on this earth. If you are not a pastor or an elder, a small group leader or Sunday School teacher, your job is to support and encourage these chosen few. This kind of thinking is completely out of step with how the Bible says the Church was created to function. Rather, the Church is One Body, made up of many parts, each doing what it was designed to do according to the Holy Spirit who gave each their own gifting and calling. Who is better equipped to pray over and intercede for your family, your neighbors and your co-workers than you? It is no mistake you were placed in the same space and place as them. One of my favorite tools over the years of ministry has been to take groups through the “Experiencing God,” curriculum by Henry Blackaby. By sharing his own experiences as tangible examples of Biblical mandates he walks the reader through a curriculum of both “knowing” the will of God and then challenges them to “do” His will. In a similar way, taking people through the extremely practical “Design for Life” curriculum has been very helpful in assisting God’s People to understand their own unique design in the bigger picture. There are a number of tools that can help you figure out what you should be doing but there is only one way to get you to do it; the conviction of the Holy Spirit. I pray that God gets ahold of your heart fully and completely. I pray that you discover the “Pearl of Great Price,” and that you come to believe you were made for a purpose and nothing else will satisfy you. It is only when the People of God each pull their own weight that our work can be done. Imagine if I were to grab five of the strongest people in our church and put them on one end of a long rope. Then, imagine the entire remaining congregation were to assemble on the other end of the rope. When I shouted, “go,” and each side pulled, who do you think would win the tug-of-war? It would not be even close! Those five strongmen would go down like paper tigers. What could Trinity International Church be? What are we capable of? We will never know until all of us are pulling in the same direction for the glory of God. Are you investing your time, your talents and your treasures into the mission of Trinity Church? Have you become a Member? We need you to pull your weight. When we are truly, “Together, On Mission,” we will be a force that will not be stopped. Not by ourselves, not by the Devil, not by the culture nor by any other thing. God has given us the keys to the Kingdom of God. It only works one way. That way is all together.
“Trinity International Church is a safe, welcoming, community of Christ-followers who uphold a high view of Scripture, celebrate unity in diversity and participate fully in the abiding Christian life as described in the Bible. We are united by the principle that in the essentials there should be unity, in all else there should be charity.”
