As with my Philippians series in the Fall, I hope this present series in the Gospel of John is impacting your lives. It is having an effect on me (one of the benefits of preaching).
Under an Open Heaven (Kregel, 2027) was my first book, and it took me on a journey deep into the heart of John and his conversations. It changed my life. Thank you for allowing me to continue to explore its depths.
This week we will look at the conversation with Martha and Mary in John 11. They were experiencing what all of us experience—disappointment with God. But Jesus will tell them something radical—something few of us understand about death and resurrection. Hope to see you soon!
In my recent blog (you can subscribe for free by going to drjohnejohnson.org), I reflected on last week’s message and our summons to join with Jesus in testifying against the evil that is in this world. I hope you read it. I fear the church worldwide is losing its voice in culture, and this has tragic consequences. Hopefully, Trinity will aim to be a light in a world that has become darker. We can ill-afford to be distracted.
Next week, May 29, we will meet again on Thursday to talk about how to develop and lead small groups. This is one of the most critical ministries in the church, and one that needs Trinity’s full attention. We are getting there—step by step. It is such a privilege to be with you, though I am mindful the time is going quickly.
