To be a member or not to be a member… that is the question. On Sunday, May 17th, Trinity International Church will host a members meeting. At the meeting we will ask our members to vote on a slate of new deacons. Most of what our church does takes no notice of whether or not a person is a member. You can schedule time with the pastor, join a small group or ministry team, participate in Sunday Services or join a mission trip. Some of our most dedicated people are not members. So, why does membership even matter? It matters because membership carries weight. Each person who joins Trinity Church adds a bit more weight behind the mission and vision that God entrusted to us. If I go to the bowling alley and instead of using a bowling ball I use and orange I might be able to knock one pin over some of the time, but it will pale in comparison to how effective I would be with a proper bowling ball. A heavier ball carries more momentum. Trinity Church will continue to pursue its mission with or without your membership, but each person that joins adds more weight; more momentum to our pursuit of God’s will. We will be more effective with more membership.
What is membership? How does a person become a member? Membership at Trinity Church is a formal covenantal relationship between our church congregation and those individuals who choose to join. To “covenant” means to mutually agree on a common goal and to dedicate your resources to that end. Our church offers regular membership classes led by qualified leaders who explain the purposes and plans of our church, the structure and our beliefs. It gives structure to how our community functions together and offers a common understanding of what role each member plays in reaching our shared goals. Membership matters. Membership meetings matter. Your contribution matters. Thank you to each of you who have joined Trinity Church Membership. If you have not yet joined please reach out to the church office and let us know that you would like to become a member.
“Trinity International Church is a safe, welcoming, community of Christ-followers who uphold a high view of Scripture, celebrate unity in diversity and participate fully in the abiding Christian life as described in the Bible. We are united by the principle that in the essentials there should be unity, in all else there should be charity.”
