Sermon May 24
1 Corinthians 15:35-58
The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics says, “Everything goes from a state of order to a state of disorder.” It’s all breaking and falling apart. You, your car, your house… That’s why the Bible says, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. Rotten milk leaves a bad taste in your mouth. So does death. Our firm foundation is the good news of Jesus Christ. He died in our place so we could live forever. All you need to do is trade your broken life for His perfect life and you will be saved. You must choose it, but He must do the work. The bible promises we will be resurrected to new life and that the old will pass away and all things will be new. This is our hope; our confident expectation. But what will our body be like when it is made new? 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 says, “So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.” Verse 49 tells us that we will bear the image of “the heavenly man,” which is Jesus. Your resurrected body will never get old, will be clothed in glory and will be filled with power.
