Sermon January 25
“This week our Sermon was from 1 Corinthians 7:28-35
“Those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you from this” (v.28). God is Good. It’s part of His eternal nature. He has always been good and He always will be. He wants to spare you from trouble. GOD WANTS WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU. “What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short” (v.29). You have a very short amount of time on this earth. Will you spend it well? You should conduct yourself in such a way that you don’t waste your time, talent and resources. If you won a contest and had five minutes to take anything from a grocery store, but only what you could remove in those five minutes, wouldn’t you be intentional, wise and focused? Paul admonishes us to think like this about our lives and to conduct ourselves as if we truly believed our time was short. Do you own your life or does your life own you? What things in your life are keeping you from serving God WHOLEHEARTEDLY? Children? Spouse? Dreaming of children or a spouse? Job? Hobby? It all belongs to God. You, and everything you have, belongs to God. HOW WELL ARE YOU LIVING “UNDIVIDED DEVOTION TO THE LORD?”
Discussion Questions
1. Do you believe that God is good? Do you believe He knows better than you what is good in your life? Do you trust God with everything or are there areas where it is hard for you to trust Him? What would it take to fully trust God with all that you have?
2. What keeps you from serving God and others more?
