How far would you travel to find a good church? Some of you live in Leidschendam. The commute to church is literally a walk down the street. This past week Nicole and I travelled on the train to Utrecht where we enjoyed an amazing evening with Pablo and Sophya Bastos. As we travelled I kept reminding myself that they do this commute every Sunday and most Sundays they are here at 9:00 for worship practice. Why would someone travel all this way each and every week to be at Trinity International Church, I wondered? The answer was easy for Pablo when I asked. They have tried several other churches. What they found at Trinity is special; well worth the travel. He mentioned the love they felt here, the sense of community with other couples and our high view of Scripture. They love Trinity and we love them back. I learned so much about Pablo and Sophya that night. They met when they were kids at the church where they grew up. Both of them have dads in ministry and they have a rich background serving and leading in their church. Pablo is a musician and a sage. He loves learning and they share a love of researching a plethora of topics together. Sophya is a gifted administrator and an amazing mother. By the end of the evening, when they drove us back to the Hague, I was reminded that Trinity is full of amazing people with overflowing giftedness and a diversity of ministry backgrounds. Our church is worth the commute from faraway places because it is filled with exceptional people who love God, love the Word, the Church and others. There are so many Trinity people that Nicole and I have yet to meet. It is the people who make the church and our people are fantastic. We can’t wait to meet you and hear your story.
